The American Foundry Society (AFS) Government Affairs Fly-In is the society’s annual advocacy gathering in Washington, D.C. Members from across the metalcasting supply chain meet for policy briefings and coordinated congressional visits focused on issues that affect foundries, including taxation, Buy America, trade enforcement, workforce policy, EPA rulemaking, and OSHA regulations.
The next edition listed on the official AFS upcoming-events calendar is 8–9 June 2027 in Washington, DC. The dedicated Government Affairs Fly-In landing page still describes the programme (briefings, honoring supportive lawmakers, and Hill meetings) and previously promoted the 9–10 June 2026 edition, which has already taken place. AFS has not yet published a named hotel or hall for 2027; only the city is confirmed.
Typical Fly-In topics include election previews, purchasing laws, supply chain, environmental enforcement, critical minerals, energy security, employment and safety law, and the Congressional Champion Award for members of Congress who support metalcasting. This is an advocacy/lobbying conference with Hill visits, not a public trade exhibition.
