About

CWOSE is the Science and Engineering Fair for the Willamette Valley and surrounding counties. Middle school (grades 5–8) and high school (grades 9–12) students engage in asking questions, conducting experiments, collecting data, drawing conclusions, and communicating their work. Projects are judged by science teachers, university faculty, and practicing scientists. Significant prizes are awarded, including scholarships to Oregon State University and the University of Oregon for high school winners.

CWOSE started in 2004 by David Hackleman (Oregon State University engineer) and is part of the larger state and national science-fair system.

CMS correction

The prior CMS listing used title “News | Mathematics | Natural Sciences” and websiteUrl https://naturalsciences.uoregon.edu/mathematics/contact-us/news (UO Mathematics news hub, not the fair page) with span 2025-02-28 / 2026-06-24. That URL is not the CWOSE event page. This upsert remaps websiteUrl/sourceUrl to the official organizer page and replaces dates with the next future day-level edition above. Legacy slug left unchanged.
