Deforestation-free trade dialogue (UNECE)

On 13 November 2024, UNECE organised the Deforestation-free Trade Dialogue in Room VII, Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland, from 10:00 to 18:00, with simultaneous interpretation in English, Russian and French.

UNECE invited everyone from the wood, cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber and soy sectors, as well as those involved in the leather, chocolate, tires and pulp and paper trade and industry, to this discussion.

The special focus of the dialogue was the European Union's Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 on deforestation-free products (EUDR) and its implications.

The event was part of the 82nd session of the UNECE Committee on Forests and the Forest Industry (COFFI) and was held in Geneva, Switzerland.

Documents tabled with the dialogue included ECE/TIM/2024/3 “Deforestation-free trade” (Item 2(a)), the concept note and draft programme as of 10 November 2024, and the Chair's summary of the Deforestation-Free Trade Dialogue, together with the presentations delivered at the meeting.
