About

The 2024 Educational Technology Showcase is an afternoon of presentations and demonstrations hosted by the Center for Academic Innovation, part of the center's one-day Innovation Showcase series. Faculty, staff, and students present the work transforming teaching and learning at the University of Michigan.

The showcase features four homegrown educational technology tools developed at U-M:

• GradeCraft — gameful learning and grading platform
• Lettersmith — writing and feedback support tool
• Problem Roulette — collaborative study and exam-practice tool
• Tandem — team and project collaboration tool

The center is also accepting proposals from U-M faculty for the adoption of these tools through the Academic Innovation Fund educational technology call for proposals.

Programme

Attendees can learn how U-M faculty are using the tools to meet their teaching goals, ask questions about the open call for proposals process, and try out the tools available for adoption.

Faculty panelists:

• Michela Arnaboldi, Philip A. Meyers Collegiate Lecturer | Teaching Professor, College of Literature, Science, and the Arts — integrates GradeCraft, Lettersmith and Problem Roulette in Climate and Earth and Environmental Sciences courses.
• Anna Cools, Innovation and Information Specialist, Intend to Attend Program, College of Literature, Science, and the Arts — adoption of Lettersmith and ECoach to prepare underserved 8th–12th-grade students in Michigan.
• Sarah Oliver, Assistant Professor of Theatre & Drama, School of Music, Theatre & Dance — implementation of GradeCraft in THTREMUS 250 and 277 and development of the MOOC "Equitable Stage Makeup and Hair".

Series

The Educational Technology Showcase belongs to the Center for Academic Innovation's Innovation Showcase series — one-day events featuring faculty, staff, and students who present research, educational technology tools, and innovative pedagogies through poster sessions, demonstrations, and walkthroughs.
