Gouverneur ST Lawrence County Fair

The Gouverneur & St. Lawrence County Fair is the annual county fair of St. Lawrence County, New York, held at the Gouverneur Fairgrounds. The fair's history runs back to 1851, when Canton was chartered to hold the St. Lawrence County Fair; Gouverneur held its first fair in 1859, and the two fairs merged at Gouverneur in 1934. The fairgrounds have been in use since 1866.

Its stated purpose is to provide a venue for the people of St. Lawrence County and Northern New York to come together for agricultural competition, education and family entertainment.

Most recent edition (2026)

The 2026 fair ran 4-9 August 2026, with a full schedule of 4-H activities, livestock shows, demonstrations, competitions, a midway and grandstand entertainment.

The same society also runs the Gouverneur Pumpkin Festival at the fairgrounds each September (15th annual edition on 19-20 September 2026), with a craft show, petting zoo, classic car show, giant pumpkin weight contests and the Giant Pumpkin Drop.
