The International Make-Up Artist Trade Show (IMATS) ran from 1997 to 2024, producing 86 shows on three continents, in four countries, and in seven cities including London.

According to founder Michael Key on the official IMATS website, the trade-show era has ended. Convention centres are described as being in the rearview mirror; no future IMATS conventions or editions are announced. Magazines and professional exhibitions have changed with social media and tighter exhibitor budgets.

IMATS historically featured leading makeup artists as speakers, the Battle of the Brushes competition, and brand exhibiting for distributors and retailers. Make-Up Artist magazine and IMATS focused on celebrating makeup artistry and bringing artists together in person.
