The Internationale Briefmarken-Messe Essen was Germany’s oldest specialist philately trade fair, held at Messe Essen from 1976 to 2023 (annually from 2006). The 33rd and last edition took place 25–28 May 2023 with more than 100 exhibitors, coinciding with IBRA 2023. Organiser Jan Billion stated in 2023 that the Essen stamp fair would not continue. The BDPh and APHV later explored a successor (Phila Essen) but concluded in November 2023 that continuation was not viable due to insufficient exhibitors. No successor event in Essen has been scheduled. The former fair domain is now a private philately information site, not an organiser calendar. Last edition: 25–28 May 2023 at Messe Essen. Status: cancelled / discontinued — no next edition.
