MTM Expo traces its origins to the Shanghai International Metallurgy Industry Exhibition, established in 1986. In 2026 the show marks its 40th anniversary. Organizers include Baoshan Iron & Steel Group, the All-China Federation of Metallurgical Chambers, the China Refractories Industry Association, and other industry bodies.

The 2026 edition comprises eight thematic sections: Metallurgy, Refractories, Casting & Forging, Industrial Furnaces & Thermal Engineering, Steel Pipe, Metal Wire, Titanium/Magnesium/Copper, and Alloy Materials.

Key figures (2026 forecast): 40,000+ m² exhibition scale; about 40,000 professional visitors and 1,000+ exhibitors expected.

MTM Expo 2025 (2–4 December 2025, SNIEC): 930 exhibitors and 31,589 professional visitors from 66 countries and regions, including 4,138 international visitors.

Participation: raw space USD $350/m² (min. 24 m²); standard booth USD $400/m² (min. 9 m²).
