Olympic BirdFest is an annual birding festival held each April on Washington State's North Olympic Peninsula, a premier Pacific Northwest birding destination nestled between Olympic National Park and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The festival is timed to capture the overlap of wintering birds and spring migration, when species such as Harlequin and Long-tailed Ducks, seabirds, and winter songbirds are still present alongside returning spring arrivals like Rufous Hummingbirds. Expert-led field trips explore iconic locations including Sequim Bay, Port Angeles Harbor, Dungeness Bay, Ediz Hook, Dungeness Spit, and the Elwha River, with additional outings through forests, fields, and prairies. Beyond the field trips, BirdFest offers engaging presentations, workshops, and a Saturday night banquet featuring a special guest speaker and raffle. The event is the Dungeness River Nature Center's largest annual fundraiser, produced in partnership with the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society and the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe. The next edition, BirdFest 2027, is slated for April 15-18.
