Otafest is Calgary’s homegrown, volunteer-run, non-profit, all-ages Japanese anime and pop culture festival. Programming typically includes anime screenings, an exhibitor hall, community panels, cosplay contests, voice actors, concerts, and related pop-culture activities. The festival is led by a volunteer staff team.

The organizer statistics page at stats.otafest.com lists Otafest 2027 as May 21–23, 2027 at the Telus Convention Centre, with theme Gothic Victorian. Attendance and charity partners for 2027 are still TBD. The public homepage at otafest.com (checked 7 September 2026) still shows leftover 2026 branding (May 15–17) and Eventbrite still points at the 2026 ticket listing; next-edition calendar days are taken from the official stats subdomain, not from the stale homepage hero.
