Supernova

Supernova 2026 (formerly Super Smash Con)

The event formerly known as Super Smash Con was officially rebranded to Supernova. The organiser's own update page states verbatim: "our annual event 'Super Smash Con' will now be known as 'Supernova'!" The 2026 edition - the 11th in the series - ran August 6-9, 2026 (Thursday to Sunday) at the Baltimore Convention Center, 1 W Pratt St, Baltimore, MD 21201. This was the first edition not held at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia, after that venue was bought out; the festival moved to downtown Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

What it is: a four-day gaming and entertainment festival built around the world's largest Super Smash Bros. tournament, plus Mario Kart (a headline tournament for the first time), arcade and retro freeplay, live music, cosplay, sports competitions, vendors and family programming. Organiser: VGBootCamp. More than $50,000 in prizes were awarded across the tournament events, with 2,408 entrants.

2026 highlights: Super Smash Bros. Melee won by Cody Schwab (Rochester, NY); Super Smash Bros. Ultimate won by FaZe Sparg0 / Edgar Valdez (Tijuana, Mexico); debut of the National Free Throw Championship with over $10,000 in prizes, trophy presented by Cam Spencer; the LIFTOFF concert featuring Virtual Riot; The Smashies awards show; the Smash 64 Combo Contest; the annual Cosplay Contest; a vendor marketplace with 90+ booths; pickleball, VR, free face painting and balloon animals; and a pre-event activation at the Baltimore Orioles game on August 6.

Next edition: no 2027 dates have been announced yet - the official site currently invites fans to sign up to "be the first to know 2027 details". The series remains active under the Supernova brand.

Official site: https://supernova.gg/ - the legacy domain supersmashcon.com is frozen at its 2019 content and now redirects visitors to the new Supernova branding.
