The Tokai Supermarket Business Fair

Overview

The Tokai Supermarket & Drugstore Business Fair (中部スーパーマーケット＆ドラッグストアビジネスフェア, Chubu Supermarket & Drugstore Business Fair; also promoted as 中部SDBS) is a trade-only B2B exhibition serving supermarket and drugstore operators across the Tokai region of Japan. It is organised by Nippon Shokuryo Shinbunsha (日本食糧新聞社, the Japan Food Journal newspaper company) and is held jointly with FABEX Chubu, the company's Chubu-region commercial food exhibition.

The 6th edition will be held:

• Dates: 7 July (Wed) – 8 July (Thu) 2027
• Opening hours: 10:00 – 17:00 on both days
• Venue: Port Messe Nagoya (ポートメッセなごや), Hall 3 (3号館), Nagoya, Aichi, Japan
• Admission: ¥5,000 incl. tax — trade visitors only; free with an invitation or with advance visitor registration

Cancellation of the 2026 edition

The edition planned for 27–28 May 2026 at Port Messe Nagoya was cancelled. In a notice dated 15 December 2025, the organiser explained that Port Messe Nagoya is required during 2026 as the venue for the Asian Games / Asian Para Games, with construction and refurbishment work suspending the halls from June to October 2026. Combined with delays in stand-construction and logistics bookings caused by the change of dates to May, and with the impact of major exhibitions held in March–April, the organiser judged that it could not meet the standard of service exhibitors had been promised, and cancelled the edition outright rather than postpone it. The fair has therefore moved to its new July slot from 2027 onwards.

Previous edition — 5th, 2025

The most recent edition was held 16–17 July 2025 (Wed–Thu), 10:00–17:00, at Port Messe Nagoya, under the title "5th Tokai Supermarket & Drugstore Business Fair".

Scope and audience

Admission is restricted to trade visitors. The fair targets supermarket chains, drugstore and pharmacy chains, convenience-store operators, wholesalers, food manufacturers and distributors in the Tokai region (Aichi, Gifu, Mie and neighbouring prefectures). Exhibits cover prepared and deli foods, processed food ingredients, beverages and desserts, bakery items, fresh produce, store and kitchen equipment, packaging and containers, and private-label product development. The concurrently held FABEX Chubu covers commercial food and meal-solution products.
