About the 2027 AALS Annual Meeting

The Association of American Law Schools (AALS) 2027 Annual Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 5 – Friday, January 8, 2027 in New York. The theme, selected by 2026 AALS President Danielle M. Conway (Dean, Penn State Dickinson Law), is Emancipate. Academic. Freedom.

The meeting is the largest gathering of U.S. legal educators. Most programs are planned by AALS sections (typically 75 minutes); formats also include co-sponsored and joint programs, pedagogy programs, works-in-progress, Discussion Groups, Hot Topic and Open Source programs, symposia, and Arc of Career sessions.

Venue

The meeting takes place at the New York Hilton Midtown (headquarters: most sessions, registration, exhibits, and guest rooms), 1335 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10019, and the Sheraton New York, 811 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019, across the street.

Hotel reservations open in September 2026 with meeting registration. Rooms must be booked through the AALS-designated housing service (not directly with the hotels). Housing deadline: 2 pm Eastern, Tuesday, December 22, 2026. Guest-room rate: $249 single / $269 double occupancy plus taxes.
