Art Fair on the Square

About

Art Fair on the Square is presented by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) and has taken over Madison's Capitol Square for more than six decades; the 2026 edition was the 68th annual. More than 300 artists exhibit paintings, prints, photographs, sculpture, jewelry, handmade clothing and accessories, and fine craft, and the weekend draws close to 100,000 visitors. Admission is free.

• Dates: Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July 2026
• Hours: Saturday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
• Muse at Art Fair on the Square: Saturday 11 July, 6-9 p.m.
• Venue: Capitol Square, around the Wisconsin State Capitol, Madison, Wisconsin, United States
• Around two dozen food vendors set up around the Capitol, with music and craft drinks through the weekend; artist applications for the 2026 fair are closed.

• The fair's own pages now live on the museum site (mmoca.org/event/art-fair-on-the-square). The standalone domain artfaironthesquare.com no longer serves this fair: it redirects to a different festival, Woodstock Art Fair on the Square in Woodstock, Illinois (Amdur Productions), which runs in October. The two should not be confused.
• No dates have been published yet for the 2027 edition; the 2026 edition above is the most recent confirmed one.
