E8 Art & Craft Trail — open studios across London E8
The E8 Art & Craft Trail is a not-for-profit walking trail that opens the homes and small private studios of artists and makers in the E8 postcode of Hackney, east London. Set up in 2022 out of conversations between local artists and makers, it is run by the participants themselves on a deliberately small, local and low-cost model, inspired by Hidden Art of Hackney (1990-2012).
Format. Each Trail runs on a Saturday and Sunday, 11:00-17:00, in June and December. Visitors follow an interactive online map (with a printable PDF) between roughly 25-27 locations — private homes, small studios, shop pop-ups and group venues — meeting the artists and buying work directly.
Disciplines. Fine art and painting, illustration, photography, ceramics, jewellery, textiles and mixed craft. Around 27 artists and groups took part in the June 2026 edition, including a group show at The Prince George, Parkholme Road (40 Parkholme Road, E8 3AG) and pop-ups at Dalston Eastern Curve Garden (13 Dalston Lane, E8 3DF) and 129 Mare Street, E8 3RH.
Participation. Artists with a home or studio in E8 can apply through the website. An initial registration fee of GBP 45 covers the website and a first Trail, with GBP 35 charged for each subsequent Trail. The Trail is not-for-profit and is limited to private homes and small studios shared by a maximum of five artists; all work must be handmade by the participating makers, and participants are responsible for their own public liability insurance.
Last edition and next edition. The most recent Trail took place on 20-21 June 2026 across the E8 area. No dates for the next edition (normally the December Trail) have been published on the official site yet.
