MARELEC 27 — The Conference on Marine Electromagnetics

MARELEC is described by its organisers as the world's foremost conference on marine electromagnetics. The 2027 edition (MARELEC 27) returns to the Scripps Institution of Oceanography campus in La Jolla, on the San Diego coast.

Scope

Marine electromagnetics covers the use of controlled-source and natural electromagnetic methods in the offshore environment — including seafloor resistivity imaging, offshore resource and geohazard characterisation, and engineering-scale subsea investigations. As in previous editions, the programme is expected to combine invited and contributed papers with poster sessions; the detailed programme and call for abstracts will be published with the January 2027 opening.

Venue

Scripps Institution of Oceanography is one of the world's oldest and largest centres for ocean, earth and atmospheric science, located at La Jolla in San Diego, California. The campus sits directly on the Pacific coast, with conference facilities a short walk from the shoreline.

Notes for visitors

La Jolla is served by San Diego International Airport (SAN), approximately 20–25 minutes' drive from the Scripps campus. Accommodation, registration fees, the detailed programme and the abstract format will be posted on the official site as the 2027 edition is finalised.
