San Diego Bird Festival
The San Diego Bird Festival is an annual five-day birding celebration hosted by the San Diego Bird Alliance (formerly San Diego Audubon). The next edition takes place February 17-21, 2027, headquartered at the Marina Village Conference Center (1936 Quivira Way, San Diego, CA 92109) on Mission Bay. Online registration opens November 1, 2026.
The festival features guided field trips to some of San Diego County's best birding sites led by expert local guides, plus pre- and post-festival trips such as "Condors and Corvids", "California Deserts and Mountains", and "LA and OC Exotics". The program includes skill-building workshops, lectures on bird behavior, and cultural explorations of the relationship between birds and people, along with keynote speakers drawn from across the country and around the world. An exhibit hall showcases field gear, books, feeders, and bird-centric tours, and free community days welcome the broader public.
The festival supports the San Diego Bird Alliance's mission to defend the region's birds, wild habitats, and unique biodiversity. In 2026 the festival welcomed over 2,500 guests from 37 states and 6 countries.
