What the conference covers

Smart Systems Integration (SSI) is an international conference and exhibition devoted to the integration of smart systems along the entire value chain — from System-on-Chip (SoC) and System-in-Package (SiP) through to System-of-Systems (SoS), spanning both hardware and software aspects. Its mission is to connect the smart-systems community — researchers from academia and institutes, industry R&D, and policy and decision-makers — and to align research activities for future intelligent and sustainable system solutions.

The programme is organised along the smart-systems value chain in parallel tracks and sessions:

• Key Enablers for Next-Generation Smart Systems — novel manufacturing technologies and architectures.
• Key Technologies — sensing, actuation, power conversion, advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration.
• Application Domains — mobility, energy, industry, biomedical and healthy living, food and agri.
• Strategy & Business Creation — innovation environment, policy instruments and the impact of EU-funded projects.

Exhibition & networking

Alongside the technical sessions, SSI runs a company exhibition where RTOs, SMEs and large industry share their latest approaches and demonstrators at booths, plus a poster session and a connecting evening event. The compact, multi-track format is designed for direct exchange between stakeholders across the value chain.

Organisers

The conference is organised by Fraunhofer ENAS (the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems) together with EPoSS, the European Association on Smart Systems Integration, combining technological and political perspectives in one event. It is technically supported by Silicon Saxony, the Saxon microelectronics and smart-systems cluster.

Venue & rotation

SSI is held annually at European centres of semiconductor and microelectronics activity; recent editions include Hamburg (2024) and Prague (2025, at the Prague Congress Centre). The next edition's city and dates are announced via the official conference website and the Call for Papers.

Call for Papers

SSI runs an open Call for Papers with multiple tracks (key enablers, key technologies, application domains, strategy & business creation). Abstracts are reviewed by the conference committee; accepted contributions are presented in technical sessions or as posters. Researchers and industry are invited to submit through the official conference site.

Co-location

SSI has historically been held in coordination with apc|m europe (advanced process control & manufacturing), with a single ticket granting access to both programmes and extending the networking reach across the semiconductor and photovoltaic manufacturing communities.
