Georgia Science and Engineering Fair (GSEF)

Middle and high school students from across Georgia present original research, compete for awards, and interact with top-level professional scientists and engineers at the Georgia Science & Engineering Fair (GSEF), an annual pre-collegiate STEM competition held in March or early April at The Classic Center in downtown Athens, Georgia.

Students showcase original projects across science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Participants generally qualify through local and regional science and engineering fairs before advancing to this statewide event, where they compete for awards before volunteer judges.

The fair relies each year on roughly 300 volunteer judges — graduate students, faculty and industry professionals with STEM expertise. It is made possible through sponsorship from private, foundation and corporate partners, and it also presents Special Awards sponsored by organizations, university departments and businesses that reward research in particular fields.
